Day & Time You’re Most at Risk for Arson in Missouri
Safe to say that every home owner in Missouri would do more to protect their property from arson if they knew when the offenders would arrive. Thanks to new data from the FBI, you can now know the day and time that you're most likely to be a victim of arson in Missouri.
I just saw the FBI in St. Louis, Missouri share details on their Facebook page about a new arson study. It was completed by the US Department of Justice recently as they looked at all the arson offenses that have happened from 2015 through 2024. The results are compelling. They broke down the day and hour of arson crimes which revealed one specific time period when arson is most likely to happen.
If you're a home owner in Missouri, you are most likely to be a victim of arson Sunday between midnight and 1am
What's interesting is Monday after midnight is a more dangerous time for arson than either Friday or Saturday. It's no mystery why the late night and early morning hours would be the most likely time to be visited by an arsonist. Doing the dastardly deed under the cover of darkness is typical. What many of those arsonists don't understand is how technology now makes it easier to discover the real cause of fires that might have gone unpunished in the past. Digital imaging and mapping technologies can detect the tools and fingerprints of those that cause fires purposely. It's not a question of if they will catch an arsonist, but when.
