2 Southwestern Missouri Area Employers Laying Off More than 200
If you woke up today and you still have your job, you can be thankful as there are more than 200 in southwestern Missouri that learned theirs will be gone due to new layoff notices.
According to the state of Missouri Jobs site, there are two new WARN notice filings and both affect southwestern Missouri workers. One reveals that Roi CPS, LLC located at 3000 E. Sawyer Road in Republic, Missouri will be closing a facility which will result in the immediate layoff of 109.
The other notice comes from The TimKen Company located at 2601 W Battlefield Road in Springfield, Missouri who will be letting 97 workers go effective March 21, 2025. They produce timing belts.
Manufacturing Dive confirms the TimKen Company layoffs saying this represents approximately 40% of their workforce, but the facility will continue to manufacture belts. That reports an inference that belt manufacturing in Mexico is more cost-efficient for the company and they're ramping up production there while reducing at the American plants where layoffs are occurring.
