Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the understatement of the year. 2020 has been a lousy year. So many activities have been postponed or cancelled thanks to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

One of the activities I will really miss during this holiday season is the annual Open House display of the model railroad setup in the basement of the Good Samaritan Home in Quincy . It has been a tradition for many to visit the train set-up thanks to the Quincy Society of Model Engineers (QSME) who have worked hard over the years to present one of the best model railroad setups in the Midwest.

I so much wanted to see it again this holiday season, but that won’t be happening. The QSME issued the following statement on their Facebook page regarding the event.

Sadly due to the covid restrictions, and the fact that our club layout is located in a lower level of a nursing home, we are still unable to gain access. March was our last run session and obviously we had to cancel our open house this year. We are grateful for the space at the Good Sam's home and we only want the best for its residents. Hopefully we will be able to gain access soon in 2021. Merry Christmas to all!

Here’s to an opportunity for all of us to be able to visit their open house in 2021.
