It's another reminder that your life change change forever in the blink of an eye. It's also a reminder that Missouri has many unsung heroes as a woman and baby were saved after their vehicle slid and was submerged in an icy creek.

This heroic effort was just shared by the Liberty, Missouri Police Department on their social media pages. It was a dire situation that got even worse as the assistant fire chief approached the vehicle and the ice gave way.

Even after the ice gave way and the officer was submerged, he did not stop his rescue attempt, but instead jeopardized his own life to rescue the woman and her child. Their update says that the woman and her baby were taken to the hospital and the officer was, too, due to the long exposure to the freezing water. Initial reports say that all are doing fine and are expected to make a full recovery which is the result of that Missouri firefighter who refused to let a life-threatening situation stop him from being a hero.
