Lamborghini Files Suit Against Illinois Dealer
Who hasn't daydreamed about one day driving an exotic supercar like a Lamborghini? One Illinois car dealer is now facing a lawsuit from that famous automaker as there are accusations of illegal sales to those who shouldn't have them.
I came across this interesting news about supercar litigation on the Illinois sub-Reddit. It says that Lamborghini is suing a Chicago, Illinois dealer for $4 million dollars. The details on Road & Track provide the backstory about what Lamborghini alleges this Illinois dealer did.
The lawsuit alleges that Gold Coast Exotic Imports had 32 transactions in 2023 to what they term non-retail customers. It goes on to claim that sales included "unauthorized resellers and brokers with criminal history". Lamborghini states their contract states that sales are to be to retail customers only.
Why the $4 million dollar lawsuit amount?
That's what the amount that Lamborghini claims it paid the Illinois dealer in incentives, but want returned due to what they allege is breach of contract.
But wait, there's one final twist to this supercar saga...
The Road & Track article says the lawsuit was filed last year, but is now back in the news due to the fact that both sides are allegedly close to an agreement. If not, a trial could happen near the end of 2026.
