Say what you want about Missouri, but there's no denying it's one of the best destinations in America for doing fun things on the water. That point was just proven again by a new national poll where one specific Missouri lake was acknowledged for being among the best in America for exciting water sports experiences.

USA Today often asks their audience to rate the best experiences in America. Their most recent 10 Best ranked the 10 best lakes in America for unforgettable water sports experiences. It was not a surprise at all to see one iconic Missouri place in their top 10 as voted on by their readers.

What Missouri lake was named among the top 10 in America for water sports?

Of course, it's Lake of the Ozarks. It was recognized for its 1,100 miles of shoreline and the sometimes raucous Party Cove got called out, too. Did you know that it's the oldest established permanent floating bacchanal in the country according to the New York Times?

It's not all sunshine and roses for Lake of the Ozarks, though

Partly due to its popularity, Lake of the Ozarks often is ranked among the most dangerous water places in America. Boating while intoxicated causes much trouble at Lake of the Ozarks for those whose good time gets out of control - literally. The Missouri Highway Patrol accident reports after holiday weekends can be terrifying.

Let's focus on the good news. Lake of the Ozarks still deserves its recognition for being one of America's best fun lakes.
