Dangerous Swim Conditions in Illinois This Wednesday
If you have swimming plans in Illinois in the middle of this week, you need to be extra careful. Weather forecasters in Illinois are warning that dangerous swim conditions are likely Wednesday.
Be aware that this alert from the National Weather Service in Chicago is NOT for all Illinois lakes and rivers. Their bulletin addresses everyone who plans to swim in Lake Michigan on Wednesday specifically. If you plan to recreational activities at southern Lake Michigan beaches, be aware of choppy boating conditions and dangerous rip currents.
This advisory is expected to remain in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning according to the National Weather Service in Chicago. If you look at the forecast for Chicago for Wednesday, you'll see that winds in the afternoon are expected to gust up to 25 mph which is why the swimming and boating advisory is in effect.
It's also worth mentioning that the National Weather Service in Chicago is already talking about the possibility of thunderstorms at the end of the week, so don't be surprised if severe weather doesn't rear its head again sometime Friday afternoon and evening. Let's hope the swimming conditions are safer once we get to the weekend.
