We're barely halfway through January and there are already multiple rounds of new store closings being announced including Kohl's which will soon close 27 stores including some Illinois places.

I saw this shared by USA Today and also confirmed by Patch. The reports say Kohl's will shutter underperforming stores which includes 27 different locations. Among those are these Illinois locations:

Spring Hill (West Dundee), Illinois: 3000 Spring Hill Ring Rd

The press release from Kohl's which also specified these store closings said all associates have been informed and offered a competitive severance or the opportunity to transfer to different roles in the company at different locations. It's adds this comment from the CEO:

"We always take these decisions very seriously," said Tom Kingsbury, Kohl’s chief executive officer. "As we continue to build on our long-term growth strategy, it is important that we also take difficult but necessary actions to support the health and future of our business for our customers and our teams."

There is no word if other store closings are to come or if this is the complete list for this year. These Illinois stores are scheduled to close by April of 2025.
