Kansas City, Missouri Driver Retires After 4.5 Million Miles
I have a soft spot in my heart for truck drivers and I know their lifestyle can be a challenging one. That's why I was awestruck when I saw a Kansas City, Missouri driver decided to ride off into the sunset after completing 4.5 million miles.
I saw this Facebook post from Swift Transportation a few days ago celebrating Lori Simba from Kansas City, Missouri who just retired after an astounding 4.5 million miles on the road. CDL Life also paid tribute to this special lady.
I learned that Lori calls Kansas City her home thanks to a feature by Fox 4 in Kansas City.
I have known a few drivers in my life who walked a path similar to what Lori has done as she was not just a driver, but also a mentor who helped other new drivers adapt to the challenging lifestyle and routine of being a truck driver. It can be a lonely existence especially if you have an over-the-road route that extends beyond your local area to locations around the country. For sure, it's not a life that everyone is capable of living.
Congrats to Lori Simba and her 4.5 million mile journey. Here's hoping her retirement is an enjoyable ride, too.
