Rodent Explosion Launches Missouri County Into Top 30
Well, rats. A Missouri county has just zoomed into the top 30 places in America that are now suddenly facing a big issue with rodents.
There is new data from Cinch which lists the worst counties in America for rodent issues. I've seen individual cities listed before, but never counties. They say they created the ranking based on the very latest census data. Among the top 30, there's only one Missouri county and it's infestation city. Congratulations to Jackson County, Missouri, you're the winner (or should I say loser?) of this new rat race. Here are the jaw-dropping numbers shared.
- 12.7% of homes in Jackson County, Missouri have rodents
- 41,674 homes in Jackson County reported having a rodent of some type
- More than 91,000 residents in Jackson County live with rodents
- Median age of homes in Jackson County, Missouri - 1970
If you're one of those Missouri households that deal with rodents, I feel your pain. I've had to battle numerous mice in our Missouri home and they're a royal pain. If you allow even a nickel-sized hole or entryway, they'll take advantage of it. We feed birds at our place which tends to draw mice. That's one reason why I'm now a big fan of our prowling neighborhood tom cats. Go get them, Tiger! The fact that mice can be the transportation method for diseases and sicknesses, I want as little contact with these creatures as possible.
