Jack in the Box Reopening in Chicago After 4 Decades this Month
This has been a long time coming. A fast food giant that left the Chicago area 4 decades ago is about to make a return this month with many more to follow.
I just saw this shared by Nation's Restaurant News. They reported that Jack in the Box bosses announced in an earnings call that among their new restaurant openings would be a return to the Windy City where they haven't had a presence since the 1980's. Secret Chicago says that the one of the first Jack in the Box locations in Chicago would be in a former Arby's building located at Countryside: 5656 s. La Grange Road which may open as early as this month.
Another new Jack in the Box is scheduled to open in yet another former Arby's building at 7807 S. Cicero Avenue in September.
The plans are for this Jack in the Box to open in September 2025. Here are the other incoming Jack in the Box addresses that will be in Chicagoland sooner rather than later:
- Carol Stream: 441 E. Geneva Rd. - Aug. 2025
- Chicago: 7807 S. Cicero Ave. - Sept. 2025
- Lake in the Hills: 320 N. Randall Rd. - Sept. 2025
- Naperville: 1600 E. Ogden. Ave. - Aug. 2025
- New Lenox: 672 E. Lincoln Hwy. - Aug. 2025
- Tinley Park: 9550 179th St. - Sept. 2025
That's certainly a loud return to Chicago for Jack in the Box after being absent for four decades. It appears the closing of many Arby's has made this Windy City reintroduction a little easier.
