It's no national secret that US government and military planes often fly over Missouri and Illinois due to our proximity to many Midwestern Air Force bases. But, one of the US 'Doomsday' planes just made a strange flight pattern over Missouri and Illinois that is beyond curious.

In case you didn't know, the United States has several 'Doomsday' planes which are E-4B militarized Boeing 747's. They are equipped to help the government survive just about every nightmare scenario you can imagine. Nuclear war, catastrophic natural disaster, attack from an enemy...you name it.

Late Thursday night under the cover of darkness, NYPrepper noticed that one of these E-4B 'Doomsday' planes made a strange flight over Missouri. It left its base in Nebraska then flew over the entire state of Missouri and the southern half of Illinois then eventually circling back over Missouri as the map from Flight Radar 24 shows.

Why would an E4-B US Air Force 'Doomsday' plane take flight like this?

The US Air Force explains why these super-equipped planes take to the air and what their function is saying:

In case of national emergency or destruction of ground command and control centers, the aircraft provides a highly survivable command, control and communications center to direct U.S. forces, execute emergency war orders and coordinate actions by civil authorities. The conduct of E-4B operations encompasses all phases of the threat spectrum.

This is the Swiss Army Knife of command and control in a worse-case scenario. This plane can communicate with the President and Joint Chiefs along with all the other armed forces. It's not uncommon for the government to keep one or two of these E4-B planes in the air almost constantly just in case.

Translation? The flight path of a 'Doomsday' plane over Missouri and Illinois late Thursday night isn't unusual. That circular path over Missouri is not a typical one though. Let's not read too much into it though. There are multiple world flashpoints right now including the war in the Ukraine, Israel vs Hamas and instability in South America. With all of those conflicts and potential conflicts occurring right now, it would probably be unusual if they weren't in the air.
