Missouri in Danger Zone for 60 MPH Wind Gusts and Hail Wednesday
Weather is likely to be exciting for most of Missouri midweek as the state is right in the middle of the danger zone for severe storm development which is expected to include up to 60 MPH wind gusts and hail Wednesday.
As I mentioned a few days ago, the end of October and beginning of November in Missouri will likely feel more like Spring than Fall. Multiple systems and fronts will cross Missouri starting Tuesday with the biggest likelihood for thunderstorms being Wednesday afternoon and into the evening hours according to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, Missouri.
As they mentioned, the timing of the arrival of these storms in Missouri could be key to their severity. If the atmosphere does become more stable as Wednesday night goes on, that could mean less volatile storms. But, it's also important to know that more than half the state of Missouri is under and enhanced risk of storms according to NOAA's Storm Prediction Center.
I have not heard mention of any tornadoes being a part of this Wednesday storm system, but it's good to know that tornadic development is possible. As they said, it's a good idea to go into late Wednesday with an expectation that severe storms are possible and pay attention to any severe weather warnings if they happen.
