The Mysterious Illinois Home That’s Almost Completely Underground
There's one Illinois home where the owner will never have to be concerned about privacy because there's no way anyone can see inside of it. That's because almost the entire structure is underground.
If you drive down N Mason Street in Deer Creek, Illinois, you'll see this curious property on a corner. This is 213 N Mason Street in Deer Creek. Two years ago, this Illinois place went viral on Reddit.
Realtor.com says that the home was built in 1951 which makes me wonder what the original builder envisioned when he drew up the plans.
At the time, it was available for an asking price of $35,000 on Realtor which allowed many to look at pictures of what home was underground.

NBC Chicago said this home sold in just 9 days for $32,000 in June of 2022. You'd have to think the owner's utility bills would be minimal as the Earth will provide all the heating and cooling you'd need.
