The St. Louis Compton Hill Water Tower is a massive 179 feet tower in the middle of St. Louis and now is being recognized for being the most unsightly building in the entire state. This water town is part of the other two water towers built to help with the city's early water system.

RELATES: Mysterious Towers in Missouri Are Considered Largest in the World

Travel A lot names the Missouri landmark unique in its own way but focused more on the sculpture that is in front of the tower.

the unusual towers aren't actually the most controversial things about this property. That honor goes to The Naked Truth--a nude sculpture near the water tower that was gifted to St. Louis by the German-American Alliance in 1914. One donor managed to convince the artist to make the sculpture out of bronze instead of marble in the hopes that it would make the artwork look less nude.

All three towers are huge tourist attractions and people just love to take in the uniqueness of all three I'm sure to think about what where they thinking when they built these. In 1999 a push to get the towers back up for people to go inside was developed and a $19 million restoration project was underway. Today the tower is open for tours from April through November.

I don't think of this tower as unsightly, it's different don't get me wrong, it's just another part of Missouri history we can all appreciate and thank those who have come up with a better way to receive our water.
