IRS to Stop Issuing Refund Checks to Missourians
How Missourians receive their tax refunds is about to change, following a new executive order signed by President Trump.
Missouri Goes Paperless for Tax Refunds
In an effort to boost efficiency in government processes, the order sets a deadline of September 30, 2025, for issuing paper refund checks. Starting in 2026, all tax refunds for Missouri residents will be issued electronically.
Effective September 30, 2025, and to the extent permitted by law, the Secretary of the Treasury shall cease issuing paper checks for all Federal disbursements inclusive of intragovernmental payments, benefits payments, vendor payments, and tax refunds, except as specified in section 4 of this order.

When you file your taxes next year, make sure to have your checking or savings account information ready. Starting in 2026, all tax refunds will be issued through direct deposit, meaning paper checks will no longer be mailed. In return, all payments made to the federal government will also be accepted electronically.

How Does This Affect You?
I have my refund directly deposited into my account, and to be honest, it makes things so much easier. No trip to the bank, not worrying about losing the check, and it's one more thing off my to-do list to now have to worry about.

This might take a few people to get used to, but once its all set up your refund will just pop up in your account when its ready and you will have access to it right away.
