Food chains have had a rough time over the past few years. Since the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, both national chains and local restaurants have struggled to recover. One once-famous chain, which had over 700 locations worldwide, is now down to just 85.

Missouri has only two locations left. Sadly, like many other major chains, TGI Fridays began its decline after filing for bankruptcy in 2024. That marked the beginning of the closures, and now only two remain.

For now, you can still enjoy your favorite meals and drinks at the Columbia or St. Charles locations, the last two remaining TGI Fridays in the Show-Me State. How can the creator of the best appitzer (loaded potato skins) only have two locations left in Missouri?

The Future of TGI Fridays in Missouri

There may be hope for the once-popular restaurant chain. According to Cheapism, a new CEO has stepped in with plans to revamp the menu, refresh the dining experience, and reopen several locations in the coming years.

Closing Restaurants

So many restaurants and businesses have closed over the years due to declining sales, bankruptcies, and the economy. I really do hope TGI Fridays makes a comeback someday—I always enjoyed the one we had in Quincy or maybe even Hannibal. I know it closed years ago, but it sure would be nice to see it return.
