Wiffleball was probably the first version of baseball most of us played. We probably have pictures from our wee days with the classic yellow thin wiffle ball bat held askew because we really didn’t understand what we were doing at first. It came quickly though, hit the ball with the bat and go get the ball. A parent soft tossing us pitches that eventually we’d hone in on and line right back at their faces. Good times.

As we got older, we learned how to throw the wiffle ball to make it curve, dip or rise. This elevated backyard/neighborhood play. We would graduate to little league. Real baseballs, aluminum bats, nice leather gloves and everything that goes with it. America’s pastime.
