Is Missouri the Most Dangerous State to be in?
There are so many things about Missouri that are really interesting and beautiful and charming, but there is another side to the Show-Me state. It can be pretty dangerous.
There used to be a billboard near this intersection that read "If You Don't Belong - Don't Be Long"
Love Exploring put out their list of the most dangerous cities in the USA, and Missouri placed 2 cities in the top ten.

St. Louis - The Gateway City has so much to offer when it comes to tourism, culture, entertainment and food. But, per the most recent crunched numbers show that violent crime in St. Louis is at 1.4% of 100 people. While property crime is at 6.4% of 100. The Crime cost per capita in St. Louis is over $9700. There are areas of St. Louis that are welcoming and lovely and parts that can be quite dangerous. St. Louis placed at #3 for most dangerous in the USA.
Kansas City - City of Fountains isn’t thought of as being as dangerous as St. Louis, and the numbers show that, but KCMO still comes in at #9 nationally for most dangerous cities. There’s a lot to see and do (and eat) in Kansas City, but keep your head on a swivel. Violent crime sits at 1.4% of 100 people and property crime is at 4.9% of 100, coming in at a cost of just under $7100 per person. Like St. Louis there are fantastic areas of Kansas City, and others that you should steer clear of.
The rest of the top ten on the -Most Dangerous- list include #10 – Little Rock, Ar. #8 - Baltimore, Md. #7 - Cleveland, Oh. #6 - Detroit, Mi. #5 – Oakland, Ca. #4 – New Orleans, La. #2 – Birmingham, Al. and #1…Memphis, Tn. Missouri was the only state to place 2 cities in the top ten.
