We had our moment of triumph. But nothing like the moment seven Missouri youths are about to experience. To be fair, the kids that reach a national level of spelling bees work at it. It’s not just a reflection of a casual habit of reading. These kids practice and research on word origins and root words. They want to know the context the word can be used in. It’s not just knowing the word, it’s understanding how and where the word came to be.
