Traditionally it has been Christmas decorations that homeowners have gone all out piling up, lighting up and drawing cars to the neighborhood to see. But increasingly over the last couple decades we are seeing more and more homes Halloweening up their yards.

I can’t confirm if these are the same families/individuals who are lighting up All Hallows Eve before switching it up to Christmas. Perhaps these aren’t the same homes. Maybe these aren’t serial “house exhibitionists”, but neighbors flexing on seasons they prefer? It could even be competitive spite I guess. If you can’t outdo your neighbor when it comes to Christmas yard displays, you could switch it up to Halloween décor and own it.

Like Christmas there are neighbors that will team up to create extra large Halloween displays, and in doing so become a magnet for Lookie-Loo traffic

Either way the interior Halloween décor from your childhood has spilled out into the yard. Do you drive around looking for Halloween displays? There are homes here and there across the country that have turned their love of Halloween yard displays into fundraisers for various charities.

In the Show-me state there is a website that points you in the direction of the most decorated yards with addresses, brief descriptions and styles -like inflatables, animated or home made. The site focuses on the St. Louis metro with locations on both sides of the river and stretching out into St. Charles, Lincoln and Jefferson counties.
