There are countless places around the world where you can enjoy incredible food, and one American dish from Illinois has made the list of the world's most amazing foods to try.

What Makes a Food 'Must-Try' Worldwide?

It pains me to admit it, but New York pizza didn’t make the list of the world’s most incredible foods; Chicago deep-dish pizza did. Don’t get me wrong, New York is on the list, just not for its iconic slice. Instead, it earned a spot for having one of the best sandwiches: pastrami.

According to Love Food, deep-dish pizza is considered one of the world’s must-try foods. And while I’ll admit it’s good… over New York pizza? I’m not so sure about that.

Where to Find the Best Deep-Dish Pizza

Love Food says to get the best and greasiest deep-dish pizza, there is only one place to go: Pequod's.

Pequod's, ranked as the number one pizza place in the whole of America by Yelp, the local institution opened in 1970. It's famed for its pies' amazingly crisp, cheesy edges, achieved by placing a ring of mozzarella around the rim of the pan.

So, as much as it pains me to say that deep-dish pizza made the list, I’ll admit that, aside from pizza, a pastrami sandwich is probably the second-greatest food item you can get in New York.

BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery.
