With all of the nerdy things to collect, games to play, and TV/movies to watch it's cool to be a nerd. I mean I watch all the Game of Thrones episodes, all the Marvel & DC movies, I collect Garbage Pale Kids cards and there is nothing wrong with any of that. Well, Zippia just ranked all 50 states on which ones are the nerdiest and Missouri is in the Top 20.

We spent a great deal of time deliberating on this highly serious question. In the end, using the definition of a nerd as “someone extremely excited or enthusiastic about a subject, typically one of specialist or minority interest” we scoured internet search data to find the nerdiest states.

First, how did they come up with the nerdiest states? Well, these experts looked at a few categories including what each state was Googling when it came to hobbies, games, and deep questions about Star Wars and Harry Potter. And they found that Missouri is 16 out of 50 when it comes to being nerdy. I would say that's not too bad, almost in the middle of the pack.

The nerdiest states are Utah, Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. The least are Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina, New York, and Georgia. So, where the Pacific Northwest seems to be the nerdiest most of the Southern states are not.

So where do Illinois and Iowa rank?

Iowa is right behind Missouri at number 17 and Illinois ranks number 38.
