You might want to check what's hanging on your rearview mirror in your car because, in Illinois, you could get a ticket for having anything hanging on it. The law in Illinois states that not even car fresheners can be on a mirror.

No person shall drive a motor vehicle with any objects placed or suspended between the driver and the front windshield, rear window, side wings or side windows immediately adjacent to each side of the driver which materially obstructs the driver's view.

I think that's why a lot of stores offer those "clip-on" air fresheners and other car scents things because they know you can't hang anything off your mirror. I had no idea about this, but really how often is this enforced? I see time and time again tons of things that hang on the mirror even parking passes.

So I can't imagine this is enforced too much, But I would say this. If you do have anything hanging and you have to move around when turning to make sure you can see if a car is coming, you might want to move that item somewhere else in your car.
