The ongoing drought is affecting many in Missouri, but none as much as these 15 counties that need rain sooner than later.

We can see if there are the Tri-States' dry, dusty conditions in the area. Last weekend I was racking leaves and covered in dust from the dry ground. Our cars are covered with dirt waiting for Mother Nature to bring on much-needed rain.

So when is relief coming?

We might see some rain here in the area today into early Friday morning, but nothing. However, some areas in Missouri are hit hard by the current drought. Stacker put together a list of Missouri countries with the worst drought rates as of September 24, 2024.

The overall data for Missouri is abnormally dry 44%, areas in drought 25% (#25 nationally), severe drought &5. Knowing that there are areas worse than Missouri is a bit of an eye-opener.

Although the full extent of damage caused by Hurricane Ian in the Southwest is still being realized, Ian is already being called one of the costliest storms to ever hit the U.S. Stacker took a look at NOAA data to extrapolate the costliest U.S. hurricanes of all time.
