Illinois Warned that Thanksgiving Travel Could Be Perilous
I would much rather share a warning like this and be wrong (and ridiculed) than to say nothing and have many caught with a nasty surprise while traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday. The National Weather Service is warning that in Illinois that travel time could be perilous.
This warning does not come from me or some questionable self-proclaimed weather expert on YouTube. This alert was just shared by the National Weather Service in Chicago which says that the period from Tuesday night through Thanksgiving Day includes a weather system they think could make travel iffy at best.
As the National Weather Service in Chicago, Illinois states, the areas to be impacted with snow and strong winds is still uncertain, but this storm system could develop into a really problematic weather situation just as many will be traveling to and from their Thanksgiving destinations.
I checked the official National Weather Service forecast for Peoria, Illinois and it calls for rain and then snow on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. Depending on how quickly the temperatures drop, it could be just a wet and annoying pre-Thanksgiving travel day or something more concerning. Let's hope it's only that first one if anything at all.
Bottom line is be prepared for the unexpected as you prepare to travel and/or celebrate Thanksgiving as nearly all of Illinois is now a question mark when it comes to what weather the state will be dealing with.
