If you need to get some shopping done in Illinois, you might want to get it done rather soon as 102 stores in Illinois will all be closing their doors on the same day in April.

I have no doubt this will catch many people by surprise. A major retail chain has announced that they will be closed for a very good reason in just a matter of weeks. If you look at the Target store locator for Illinois, you'll notice something interesting. They will all be closed on April 20, 2025.

Scrape Hero says there are currently 102 Target stores in the Land of Lincoln.

Why are all Illinois Target stores closing on Sunday, April 20, 2025?

Simple answer - that's Easter Sunday.

This became a big discussion on Reddit as many wondered why Target chose to close that day and the reason is they want their employees to be able to spend time with their families on that day.

Target is one of the few major retailers that now shut their doors on Easter. When I was a kid, there were virtually no stores open any Sunday. That has changed big time since that era which my kids lovingly refer to as "the black and white time" because all my pictures as a kid are in black and white.

Sigh...
