Down with the Sickness – Respiratory Illness Spiking in Illinois
If you and/or many you know have been sick in Illinois lately, you are certainly not alone. New data shows that respiratory sickness in particular is now spiking in Illinois.
The last time I was at the grocery store in Illinois, I noticed a very long line of people waiting at the pharmacy area. There's a good reason for that. If you look at the most recent CDC map showing where influenza is high, you'll notice that Illinois is now red.
The Illinois Department of Health confirms this as the state's most recent dashboard shows respiratory illness is now at its peak.
The state of Illinois also shows that hospital admissions for respiratory issues are also trending way up. Flu cases are also on the rise.
What can you do to avoid this recent spike of sickness in Illinois?
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell you that if you're sick, stay home. If you're not sick, make sure you do your diligence to wash hands after touching any surface in public and try to avoid being in an area where sick people are. That being said, it's difficult when you need food and/or medicine and don't have anyone else to help you. Sometimes you can't avoid going out when you're not feeling well. The best medicine is to use common sense and hope you can avoid this rampant sickness that is nagging many in Illinois right now.
