It's not easy being in the food business these days. More proof of that fact today as a bankrupt franchisee announced they must now sell all of their Illinois Pizza Hut locations.

The announcement shared by Nation's Restaurant News affects many Illinois Pizza Hut locations as franchisee EYM Pizza L.P. says they are selling a staggering 127 Pizza Hut locations spanning several states including many in Illinois. This is reportedly part of a complete financial restructuring process.

The report says that the bankruptcy of this company with many Illinois Pizza Huts happened after the chain sued them over unpaid royalty fees. The report also says that EYM Pizza L.P. is the sister company of the one that closed many KFC locations back in August.

There is no report of a buyer for the 127 Pizza Hut locations including the ones in Illinois or how this could potentially affect those locations once they're sold to a new owner. Let's hope whoever buys them finds a way to keep them open for business and hopefully thrive so they can survive into the future.

I don't know about you, but I have many childhood memories connected to Pizza Huts and would hate to see this brand go the way of the hula hoop. Still miss the big red glasses and the pizza buffet.
