If there is any internet list you don't want to be on, it's this one yet Illinois has now suddenly been ranked as a favorite destination for serial killers and their hideous crimes.

I found good news and bad news on the serial killer front. Let's start with the good part. A new article by Crime Capsule says that Illinois is not a top 10 state for producing serial killers. The bad news? Illinois is one of the top states where serial killers end up. World Atlas shows Illinois is now suddenly the 4th most popular states for serial killings.

What makes Illinois a "popular" serial killer destination?

The World Atlas story says that Illinois has a staggering 680 serial killer victims. The list of notorious serial killers that were not born in Illinois, but ended up in the state include Johann Otto Hoch who was known as the "Bluebeard Murderer" in the early 1900's, Robert Ben Rhoades who killed as many as 50 at truck stops, Larry Eyler who was known as the Interstate Killer in the 1980's who may have taken the lives of dozens and of course, John Wayne Gacy.

Only California, Texas and Florida have had more serial killings than Illinois which is a pathetic legacy for a state.

Evil sadly exists everywhere in the world, but it's unfortunate that so many horrific stories from these killers can be told with Illinois as the backdrop.
