I can't remember the last time I've seen this many variations of the same type of food product being recalled, but that's the reality for 7 different tuna salad products in Illinois that have a potentially fatal contamination risk.

The US Food & Drug Administration has just shared an urgent bulletin that involves a lot of different tuna salad products that were widely available in Illinois via Jewel Osco Stores in Illinois, Iowa and Indiana. They are believed to have a possible Listeria contamination. The CDC says serious health consequences are rare, but for the very young, very old and those with compromised immune systems, it can be a life-threatening situation. It's also harmful for pregnant women, too. Even for a healthy individual the symptoms are nasty and can include "high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea".

Here are the tuna products in Illinois that are impacted by this recall:

Part of the problem with this potentially contaminated tuna salad is that Listeria can survive in a refrigerator and can even spread to other food surfaces inside the fridge if a contaminated food is stored inside.

Make sure to check pictures of the tuna salad labels shared by the FDA to make sure you don't have some of this potentially dangerous food.
