Updated Ranking Now Shows 15 Illinois Hospitals Have a 'D' Rating

It should not be surprising to know that I was given one 'D' grade when I was in high school. I blame physics since I don't understand them. But, that's one reason why I feel qualified to be the messenger about a newly updating ranking of Illinois hospitals that now shows 15 have the lowest 'D' rating.

This new ranking comes from Hospital Safety Grade which just shared their new data for Spring of 2024. It shows which Illinois hospitals received grades for patient safety. Sadly, the 'D' grade list is growing rapidly.

Keep in mind that hospital safety grade uses many metrics to determine which Illinois hospitals excel in patient safety, but they do fall into 4 main categories:

Errors
Injuries
Accidents
Infections

Making a decision about whether a hospital in Illinois is safe is a big one and I would never recommend making that decision based on the rankings of just one site. Do your own research and visit with staff there if at all possible. I would only use rankings like this as a jumping off point to do my own homework before entrusting myself or my family to a hospital's care.
