9 Illinois Hospitals Just Dinged with D Grade for Patient Safety
Let's remember that D is a passing grade where I come from. That's what I told myself as I finished my education many moons ago. That's probably the same mentality that 9 Illinois hospitals now have as new Spring ratings just gave them a D for patient safety.
Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade updates their data every quarter as they measure the safety of hospitals. When they say safety, it's not crime in the medical facilities, but "errors, injuries, accidents and infections". Infections especially are a serious concern in hospitals as they say 1 out of every 31 patients develops one during their stay.
Here's something important to note about their new ratings for Illinois hospitals. As of this writing, all of the city grades have not been released. But, the results for major Illinois places like Chicago, Rockford and Springfield have. That means this list could grow, but here are the 9 that received the lowest grade of D so far.

I have not had any personal experience with any of these Illinois hospitals, but I will add this. I have seen hospitals in other states given a D rating in this ranking that I have been treated great at. Never base a decision as important as who you trust with your family's health needs on just one internet ranking like this one. This is just good information to help you begin your own research before health facility decisions are made.
