Illinois Filed a Staggering 90 Charges Against Human Traffickers
Illinois has said that the state will increase its fight to put those that are involved in human trafficking behind bars and new numbers just released prove it. The state has filed a staggering 90 charges against individuals allegedly involved in this awful crime.
The Public Information Office of the Illinois State Police just shared an update about the state's efforts to reduce the crime of human trafficking.
“Human trafficking can come in many forms, from commercial sex acts to forced labor,” said Director Kelly. “Because human trafficking has many faces and can happen almost anywhere, it is important to have a comprehensive, statewide trauma-informed response that encompasses those who may come in contact with individuals who are being trafficked, such as law enforcement, child services, case workers, treatment providers, and others.”
Here are the numbers released by the state of Illinois about all of the charges that have been filed in different parts of the state.
That's a grand total of 90 charges filed in 2024 which is an unbelievable effort to slow down the human trafficking problem in Illinois and hopefully reduce this terrible crime in the region, too.
There is a bill in the Illinois Senate right now that could help victims and law enforcement response. Let's hope that everything that can be done is done to stop this terrible abuse of humans.
