Humongous Meteor Captured Exploding Over Missouri Early Wednesday
If you were awake bright and early Wednesday morning, you might have seen a spectacular sky sight over Missouri. It was a mammoth meteor that fortunately exploded over the state and was witnessed as far away as Nebraska.
According to the American Meteor Society website, this space rock was photographed from Albany, Missouri at approximately 6:06am Wednesday, February 28, 2024 by Dan Bush of the Missouri Skies YouTube channel.
The report map from the American Meteor Society shows this meteor was big enough to be viewed over a 5-state region including Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska.
That makes this space rock once of the most reported meteors of 2024 so far. Dan Bush does a great job of also capturing videos of meteors, so I'll update this article with that if one is shared.
