Rejoice! Hummingbirds Have Officially Been Spotted in Missouri
It has been Spring for a week and a half now, but for many it's not really Spring until hummingbirds show up. If that's you, you can rejoice as the tiny little birds have been officially spotted making their way through Missouri.
I've seen the question about hummingbird arrival time in Missouri on the Birds of Missouri Facebook page. I saw a post about an hour ago as of the time of this writing have comments saying "scouts" had been spotted in Joplin, Missouri already. So, I decided to check the Hummingbird Central migration map and, sure enough, there are multiple hummingbird sightings in southern Missouri.
Here are some of the individual reports from Missouri so far.
The normal arrival time in the northern half of Missouri is mid-April, but with the little birds already appearing in the southern part of the state, it's entirely possible even northern Missouri will be able to chime in hummingbird reports sooner rather than later.
