I was looking at an interesting statistic about how many people currently reside in the state they were born in. I was surprised at some of the numbers.

According to AARP, the state with the highest percentage of people still living in their birth state is Louisiana at 78.7% followed by Michigan at 76.7% with Ohio at 75%. The state that saw the highest exodus is Nevada at 25% followed by Florida at 35.7% and Arizona at 38.5%.

Locally, in Missouri, 66.6% of the population has remained in the Show-Me State.  Illinois is nearly identical to Missouri at 66.9% and 71.6% of Iowans have remained in the Hawkeye State.
