12 Illinois Hospitals Given a D for Safety & 1 Got a Big Fat F

The ultimate judge of how well a hospital performs is how safe its patients are. There's an updated ranking that has suddenly downgraded 12 Illinois hospitals and 1 got a big fat F for patient safety.

Hospital Safety Grade has just released their Fall 2024 update for patient safety and it's not good news for more than a dozen Illinois medical care facilities. They factored in MRSA infections, C. diff infections, Infections in the blood, surgical site inspection after surgery and sepsis infection after surgery to decide which Illinois hospitals were safe and which ones were not.

Before I share this list, I want to clearly say that you should NEVER base a decision on which Illinois hospital you trust your care to based on one internet ranking. Use this as a jumping off point for your own research. I share this data because you deserve to know if a hospital has had issues with managing infections as that can be a life and death situation.

All that being said, here are the 12 Illinois hospitals that were just given a D grade:
