When people say "there just isn't anything to do around here", I have to chuckle. This weekend will prove that statement wrong. Here is a list of some of the activities scheduled for this weekend alone.

This Saturday the Quincy Humane Society will host the Mutt Strut 2018.  This year’s theme is Disco InFURno. The event will be held at Wavering Park from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mutt Strut includes their traditional One Mile Mutt Strut, a new Doggie Dancing Contest & Demonstration from Holly Schell of Elite Studio and a Kids Zone sponsored by the Quincy Art Center.

benefit for Logan “Warrior” Bergman will be held on Saturday at the American Legion Hall on highway Double-M in Hannibal. The event will feature a live and silent auction, a 50-50 raffle, a corn-hole tournament, a kids area, a bounce house, a petting zoo and live music by DJ Andy Sherman. The cost is $7 at the door and $5 for kids 12 and under. For more info, call 573-248-6215. All proceeds will go towards Logan’s medical bills incurred from several heart surgeries.

The Ralls County Kayak Race is going to be held on Saturday. This year they're offering two races. A one mile race and a seven mile race at Indian Creek on the beautiful Mark Twain Lake.  You can find more information and register online at www.getmeregistered.com/rallscountykayakrace. The event is hosted by the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Ralls County Health Department.

Massman Construction and the entire Champ Clark Bridge team invite the public to come to Riverview Park in Louisiana on Saturday to learn about updates on the new bridge and ask questions.  The update will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will last anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes in length. A benefit for Mike Fritz at the Quincy Illinois Veterans Home, who is suffering from cancer, will be held this Saturday at The Club located at 1023 North 10th street Quincy from 1 to 6 p.m. There will be a whole hog roast, live music by Rick Parrish, and a plethora of amazing silent auction items. There will also be everything from hotel stays, restaurant certificates, tattoo artist certificates, bounce house certificate, certificates to family attractions, Even Glow skincare, oil changes, lottery tickets and lots more auctioned off. Everyone is welcomed to attend to help Mike Fritz and his fight against cancer this Saturday.

The QHS Blue Devil Cheerleaders will host their Annual QHS Fall Cheer Clinic on Sunday, September 30th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Quincy High School Gym. Aspiring Blue Devil Cheerleaders, boys and girls, will learn from the best for only $5.00! For more info, call Penny Little at 223-8700.
