In fitting with Hannibal's year-long centennial celebration, the annual Wild and Wacky Art Adventure is using the theme, "200 Years of Community, One Great Day of Art."

The Wild and Wacky Art Adventure is a free art festival for kids ages 3 through 12, along with their families.  It's coming up on Saturday, August 3 at Hannibal's Central Park.  It runs from 9:00 a.m. until noon.

A huge favorite of the kids and grown-ups alike at the festival is Box Town.  The Friends of Historic Hannibal set up a maze of appliance boxes, they hand off a cup of paint, an old shirt to protect clothes, and then let the kids go to town.  Another popular feature is the free t-shirt from Parents as Teachers that the kids can decorate with their own art.  Other creations kids can make this year are rag dolls, twig rafts, paper bag pets and nature art.

The Hannibal Arts Council https://hannibalarts.com/ created the Wild & Wacky Art Adventure to provide a positive activity in which parents and children can interact, work side by side, explore creativity, and in some ways strengthen the sense of family. In order for the event to be free, local businesses and organizations are sponsoring the event in partnership with the Hannibal Arts Council. Each year over 200 children and children-at-heart enjoy the event.
