The Miss Quincy Scholarship Program is proud to introduce the winners of its 2018 pageant at a meet and greet event at Emerald City Jewelers on Saturday, January 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. Miss Quincy is 23-year-old Taylor Hardy, the daughter of Jim and Vicki Hardy. Hardy is a graduate of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She performed a tap dance to “Thunderstruck” at the Miss Quincy Scholarship Pageant on January 6, 2018 at Quincy Community Theatre. Hardy will spend her year of service advocating for her platform, “Cultivating Agricultural Education.”

“The Miss Quincy Scholarship Program is important because it represents Quincy’s commitment to volunteer service, scholarship opportunities for our youth, and success for individuals and businesses,” said Miss Quincy 2018 Taylor Hardy.  “With a large diverse population in Quincy and its surrounding communities, it is important that I serve with style and grace and market the abundant organizations and businesses in the Quincy region,” Hardy said.

The 2018 Miss Quincy’s Outstanding Teen is 14-year-old Shelby Rose. She is the daughter of Mark and Melissa Rose and attends Quincy Junior High School. Rose’s jazz dance performance to “Smooth Criminal” helped her capture the crown at the 2018 pageant. Her platform is “Fostering Hope,” which focuses on providing support to foster families in The Quincy area.

“The Miss Quincy Scholarship Program has encouraged me to set goals and follow my dreams. It is truly beneficial for people across the world to have an open mindset for the foster care system,” said Miss Quincy’s Outstanding Teen 2018 Shelby Rose. “During my year of service, I plan to provide support to the foster families and children by educating our community and bringing a ray of positivism into Quincy’s foster society,” Rose said.

Saturday’s event is open to the public and is drop-in style. Attendees are encouraged to bring a camera so they may have their photo taken with Miss Quincy and Miss Quincy’s Outstanding Teen.
