“Hellacious Scream” Reported by Man in Illinois Woods

If you've spent enough time in the deep woods of Illinois, you know that sometimes strange things happen there. That is what happened to one Illinois man who says that he had a lightning bolt of fear go through him when he suddenly heard a "hellacious scream" in the Illinois backcountry.

This new tale was just told to Sasquatch Theory on YouTube a few days ago by a man named Quentin Smith who says he lived near Marshal, Illinois. That is a very small community located in the southeastern part of the state that is surrounded by wilderness.

As he tells it, he and another younger guy were out in the woods to practice shooting firearms. After that ended, they were walking back through the woods when Quentin heard a sound that chilled him.

"It was turning dark about this time...It's about a 15-minute walk...you've got to go down this trail...we were walking up the hill...then there was a...hellacious roaring kind of scream...50 to 75 yards away...when the blast from that roar hit me, I felt it in my gut...it was a lightning bolt of fear going through my body..."

Shortly after that, Quentin heard grunting and growling as something large was tearing through the woods. The sound seemed to be moving around them in all directions. They both decided to leave the woods immediately before the darkness completely took over. They did not look back to see what was behind them, but they heard sounds nearly all the way out of the woods. Looking back, Quentin said that he believes that whatever it was seemed to be defending territory.
