A new cupcake and sweet treat vending machine is the talk of downtown Hannibal these days.  Just outside the door of Finn's Food and Spirits on Main Street, you can find the bright pink vending machine serving confections any time of the day or night.

The vending machine is the brainchild of Lacey Johnson, owner of the Kupcakes Bakery https://www.facebook.com/kupcakesbylacey/ that she operates from her home.

"I didn't know I wanted to be a baker until I happened to stumble across a recipe for an Italian wedding cake.  Everyone raved over it so much that I tried another and another.  Before I knew it, I was making everyone I know cakes or cookies for their special occasions."  Three years ago, Johnson got her business license and the vending machine idea evolved.

"The most sincere compliment I've ever gotten was when a friend of mine tried my carrot cake and said, 'I just really want the world to try this.'  So my goal is to achieve that one vending machine at a time!"

I've tried the chocolate chip Lacey Cake.  Scrumptious!  The vending machine doesn't just offer Kupcakes.  I've never had a better peanut butter cookie.  Here's what it's loaded with right now:

  • Carrot Cake Kupcakes
  • Vanilla Lacey Cakes
  • Peanut Butter Dream Cookies
  • Chocolate Lacey Cakes
  • Brownie Pie
  • Sugar Cookies
  • Cake Pops
  • Carrot Cake Kupcakes
  • Red Velvet Lacey Cakes

Each item cost $3. In the coming months, Johnson plans to add some fall-inspired treats with pumpkin, carmel apple and butter pecan flavors.
