I don't question that this tiny Missouri place is a great place to live. I'm not even gonna argue that it shouldn't be called the 'best place to live in Missouri' like it just was. I just find it funny (wrong word) that it's practically in the armpit of what many call the 'murder capital' of America.

I have no doubt that Homesnacks is well intentioned and even perhaps right to declare this teeny tiny Missouri place an epic place to live. #1 in the state of their brand new 2024 ranking. It's just that it's so close to...death really. Please pardon my harsh words.

It really is a pretty place with quaint albeit expensive neighborhoods. Average home price of over a half million? Yep.

Homesnacks has named Glendale, Missouri the best city to live in for 2024. Let's look at it on the map.

That's kind of my point. Is Glendale a nice area? Absolutely. Is terror waiting just a few miles away? Sometimes it is, yes.

As Homesnacks mentions, Glendale's motto is "residents’ welfare above all else". That's probably accurate. It takes a lot of effort to keep your residents welfare safe when a riot may start just a few blocks away.

Let's be clear about another point. Yes, as the article says, Glendale's crime rate is 75% lower than the national average so it's fair to give them this trophy. However, for those of us that actually live in Missouri it feels a little odd to be heaping praise on suburbs of "the murder capital".
