Quincy residents better start getting ready to pay more for garbage collection, twice as much more, if the Garbage & Recycle Committee has their way. Monday night that committee made the recommendation to the city to stay in the garbage collection business and to raise the cost of a garbage sticker from 75 cents to $1.50 each for the next 5 years. After several town hall meetings, the consensus of the public was to not privatize garbage collection and the Committee concurred.

The committee also made recommendations for yard waste. The Committee recommended the implementation of a $3 per sticker fee for yard waste for the next 5 years as well.

As far as recycling is concerned, the committee did not present a recommendation saying they wanted more information before making a suggestion to the city. According to a WGEM report, the recommendations from the Garbage & Recycle Committee will be presented to city council Monday (January 14) night with three readings needed before a vote is taken.
