We're approaching the favorite time of year for many Missourians. When will the Fall colors truly get good? That depends on what part of Missouri you live in or like to adventure in.

It's ironic that the best site I've found for Fall color changes in Missouri is Smoky Mountains since (last time I checked), we don't have those mountains here. Here's the progression of the Fall color change in Missouri. Note that as early as September 30, certain parts of southern Missouri will start to see leaf changes.

The takeaway is that by mid-to-late October you should start to see real Fall colors in almost all parts of Missouri. November 4, 2024 is considered the peak day, but note that parts of southern Missouri will begin to fade past the peak by that time, too.

The Smoky Mountains map is super-easy to use if you'd like to look at each week's progression to see when your Fall color watching trip should happen. Depending on the weather, just about any weekend in mid-to-late October should be prime in Missouri. Happy leaf hunting.
