It is now a cult classic, but then it was a low-budget motion picture that was about New York City as a walled prison. Escape from New York was really filmed nearly entirely in St. Louis, Missouri and you can see the filming locations as they look today.

Hauntworld - Creepy Attractions on YouTube visited many of the Escape from New York filming locations recently showing where Kurt Russell and the rest of the cast captured their now cult movie classic when it was filmed in 1981.

According to IMDb, Kurt Russell said Escape from New York is his favorite film ever. It also made many St. Louis locations like the Chain of Rocks Bridge, Fox Theater and Union Station famous for portraying desolation.
