Doomsday Plane Spotted Circling Over St. Louis, Missouri Saturday
No, this does not necessarily mean the end of days are suddenly upon us. But, it is interesting that a real top secret United States 'doomsday plane' was spotted circling over St. Louis, Missouri late Saturday evening.
It had been relatively quiet lately with not much unusual plane activity over our part of the Midwest, but I was alerted that something was up by the NY Prepper YouTube channel that shared this interesting flight path over the middle of Missouri Saturday night. He spotted a Boeing E-6B Mercury (aka 'doomsday plane') code named ALATE49. The 'doomsday planes' are command and control designed to be airborne in the event of a worst-case scenario attack by an enemy or a cataclysmic natural disaster where command on the ground is not possible.
It took off from a base in Oklahoma around 10:29pm Saturday night, January 25, 2025 and proceeded directly to St. Louis, Missouri and that's not the weird part.
It's what happened next that was odd. For some reason, it circled the city briefly before continuing its path eastward toward the coast.
This isn't the typical flight path that I've seen for the E6-B Mercury fleet as they normally take off from Nebraska and will often cross the northern part of Missouri for whatever their destination is. In this case, the plane flew all the way to the east coast and the flight-tracking software lost track of it over the Atlantic Ocean.
I will once again emphasize what I often do. First, this is public domain flight path knowledge and not classified or I would not have access to it. Second, it's not a sign that something dire is about to take place. Truthfully, 'doomsday planes' are often airborne over Missouri due to the stealth bomber presence at Whiteman Air Force Base and Offutt Air Force Base in southeastern Nebraska where many of these planes fly out of.
It was the decision to circle St. Louis briefly that made this 'doomsday plane' appearance over Missouri unusual, but even then nothing to worry about. Just interesting top secret military plane activity that happened over our heads late Saturday night.
