Here's something that's hard to understand. I've seen multiple reports today that a mayor in Illinois is now without a home after she was served with an eviction notice.

Times are hard and the struggle is real for many in Illinois and the rest of America, but what I'm seeing today defies logic. Yahoo News, Patch and several other media outlets are reporting there's a Chicago-area mayor who just got the notice that she's being evicted.

According to the reports, Mayor Tiffany Henyard of Dalton, Illinois was served with an eviction notice on September 18, 2024 notifying her that her rent was late and she owed more than $3,300 in back rent.

There's more than just the eviction issue for Mayor Henyard. NBC Chicago is reporting there are a number of other legal issues including contempt of court charges involving the mayor and the staff of Dolton, Illinois.

There's a lot of confusion about what exactly is going on as the City of Dalton, Illinois website says she was elected in February of 2021 with 82% of the votes cast.

As this is a developing story, I'll update it once there's some clarity of exactly how a mayor in Illinois is suddenly having to look for a new home and seems to have a whirlwind of court cases against her.
