The concept of a ghost kitchen is a restaurant that only offers take-out and no dine-in options. Yes, there are Dickey's Barbeque Pits that you can enjoy a meal in, but this new location in Aurora, Illinois isn't one of those. You can place orders and pick it up or have it delivered, but you won't be consuming large amounts of BBQ inside. The advantage of this strategy by Dickey's Barbeque Pit is they can occupy a much smaller space than a full-service restaurant would be required. They can also have reduced staff which can help chains overcome the personnel issues that have plagued numerous restaurants for the past few years. Will this ghost kitchen concept flourish in Illinois? Time will tell the tale.
